Our federal government will have to borrow more than $500 billion this year. That’s one-half a trillion dollars of money we don’t have to run the government. That money will be added to the national debt –which we used to worry about back in the day. The day before looniness became normal. Now, drunken sailors are being given a bad name by the Republicans in Washington.
But next year, that same government will need to borrow more than $1 trillion just to stay afloat. And why does the government need to borrow that much? Was it to help our underfunded schools? To help people get healthcare? To build bridges and highways? Why no, it was to give it to corporations and billionaires…
